Skinias is a remote area located 94km east of Agios Nikolaos e 20km east of Sitia, in one of the most secluded parts of East Crete.

The wild landscape hosts three tiny coves, perfect for those seeking isolation at the exit of the Katsara Gorge.

There are no amenities or trees around, so you should definitely bring water and an umbrella with you.

The beach is accessible via a rough dirt track that leads to the middle beach of Skinias.

If you’re driving a regular car, you might need to stop before reaching the beach since the road is in very poor condition.

The first beach you’ll encounter is the middle sandy beach of Skinias, with wonderfully colored water.

Walking 200 meters to the east along the rocky shore with several caves and vivid blue water, you’ll soon reach the eastern pebbly beach of Skinias.

Alternatively, from the middle beach, if you walk west towards Karoumes, you’ll find another pebbly beach formed at the exit of a short and small canyon.
