But here’s where it gets interesting there are these awesome rock formations both in and out of the water.
They break up the shoreline in the most eye catching way.

Head to the west end and you’ll spot this massive dark-colored rock.
That’s Skouros (which means ‘dark’ in Greek), and yep, it’s what gives the beach its name.
For those who love a bit of adventure, Skouros is a top pick for free camping.
It’s got that remote feel without being too far from civilization.
If you’re up for more exploring, west of Skouros rock there are even more secluded beaches.
Start at Xerokambi and work your way to the east end of Listis rock.
Fair warning, you’ll need to navigate some dirt roads past greenhouses to get there, but it’s worth the trek.

The beach looks really nice and not too busy. Perfect for a swim, but those rocks on both sides make me a bit worried about falling while walking around” Have you been swimming here, and is the water deep right away or does it get deep slowly?
The mix of sandy beach and big rocks around it makes this beach really cool. It’s different from the usual beaches you see everywhere else in Crete. AND my question is: Does anyone know if there’s a good place to park near this beach or do you have to walk far from where you leave your car?
Pretty disappointed with this beach. Too many rocks everywhere and it was really crowded when we went. Is there a better time of day to visit when it’s less busy?
