This small village is located near Kapsa Monastery, 68km south of Agios Nikolaos and 33km east of Ierapetra, in one of the most rugged areas of eastern Crete.

It is separated from Koutsounari by a few rocks.
Staousa is beautiful, with fine pebbles and turquoise waters, and its main attraction is a large cave to the east, though it is about to collapse.

The locals have built a concrete path with stairs to make it easy to get there.
The third beach, located east of Staousa, is mainly used as a harbor for local boats and is protected from southwesterly winds.
Known as Anaskelou, this third beach has a few small pebbles and rocks on the seabed and is very quiet.

The church of Panagia is a must-visit, built in 1881, and it’s surrounded by buildings where the inhabitants of the mountainous village Pervolakia stay during the winter months.
